Dalai Lama. Pictures of a Life by Dalai Lama

Dalai Lama. Pictures of a Life by Dalai Lama

Preface by Mathieu Ricard

Chapter Introductions by Claudine Vernier-Paillez

DALAI LAMA. Pictures of a life brings together nearly 200 photos illustrating the life story of Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama. Each photograph is accompanied by a commentary from the Dalai Lama himself, where he relives and recounts his past.

This his first color-illustrated autobiography, as well as an introduction to Tibetan Buddhism, and the history of a people struggling for independence and recognition for half a century.

An unparalleled collection of photographs documenting the life of Tibet’s spiritual leader, with commentary by The Dalai Lama himself

From black-and-white archival material to stunning fullcolour photographs, the album follows the Dalai Lama’s whole life story. It covers his birth into a family of farmers, the life-defining moment when, at age three, he was recognised as the new incarnation of the Dalai Lama, his childhood at the Potala Palace, soon interrupted by the conflict between Tibet and Communist China which led eventually to his exile in India in 1959, and his continual struggles for the liberation of his country.
